Product Description
Nothing like a good mystery to engage your math students! You are taking part in a theatrical “murder mystery” production and one of your teammates has been “murdered”. Your task is to figure out the crime before the end of class. The question is who committed the crime? How? And where? The player, last known whereabouts, and method that are left unaccounted for is the solution. This Math Detective focuses on practicing the skill of order of operations.

The teacher will place the 10 clues (problems) around the room. Students will have 10 clues, but these clues are order of operations problems! Each answer will result in a clue. (It may be a wrong clue if they solve the problem incorrectly.) Students will check off the Players, Last Known Whereabouts location, and Methods that are accounted for from each clue. Each clue will give at least one piece of information; some give two pieces. When all problems are solved correctly, the one (person/location/method) left in each column is the correct solution.

Watch the students work to solve the crime!

In this 17 page file, you are given detailed directions for implementation, 10 clues to print and tape to your wall/place around your room, a student worksheet with room to work the problems, and the answer key.
