Students are often taken through inventories for introduction of science units, or book cafes to introduce a genre in reading and writing. Math Diner is a new way to introduce a math unit/topic. Using the theme of the fifties diner, students will be able to explore math units that they are about to begin. Math Diner is an introductory activity for any unit/topic. Students will step into a fifties diner to make noticings and record their findings in their "Menus". Teachers have the freedom to decide what items they will place throughout the scene. These items can include hands-on manipulatives, math tools, math literature, examples of the unit, realia, etc. Students will rotate through the different tables with items to investigate the new unit of study for math. Math Diner will be a hit with students! Teachers who purchase this product will get an electronic copy of everything they need to start Math Diner with their mathematicians. This also includes a power point with slides that transition on their own. Each slide will have five minutes for students to explore the materials, and 2-minute slides in between to help them transition to the next table.
