Make your own fact families. Students practice math facts by writing in fact families. Use a dry erase pocket, print many or laminate. I use the large house to hang on the board with a weekly fact family to memorize.
Activities for Multiple Houses Worksheet:
1) Students can roll 2 six sided dice, add the numbers to find the fact family. For example if they rolled a 5 and a 4 they would show the fact family 4+5=9, 5+4=9, 9-4=5, 9-5=4.
2) Roll a 12 or more sided dice. Break the number you rolled into a fact family. For example if they rolled a 13 they could break it down into a 9+4=13 or 8+5+13, etc.
4) Write in various numbers in various places on the worksheet and let students be creative in discovering the fact families they can make.
3) Use these sheets as a test for facts students are learning. Write in the largest number and students recall the addends that go with it.
