Product Description

This multiplication intervention pack is designed to help students understand multiplication and develop fluency with multiplication facts. This pack can be used in sequence, or to support students needing additional practice with specific facts/skills.

This pack includes groups of objects for repeated addition/ building the foundation for understanding multiplication. Six cards are presented on each page. The following groups are included:

★ One, two, three, four, five and six groups of two.

★ One, two, three, four, five and six groups of three.

★ One, two, three, four, five and six groups of four.

★ One, two, three, four, five and six groups of five.

★ One page of randomly presented groups of objects.

After each page of objects, there is:

★ A page of cards showing the matching number.

★ A page of cards with statements such as “3 groups of 4.”

★ A page of cards showing the multiplication fact associated with each groups of objects.

These cards can be used for math talks and/or memory/matching games.

Once students have developed the foundation needed to understand multiplication, facts are systematically introduced. Two sheets are included for each of the following sets of facts:

★ Multiplying by zero

★ Multiplying by one

★ Multiplying by zero or one

★ Multiplying by two

★ Multiplying by zero, one or two

★ Multiplying by three

★ Multiplying by zero, one, two or three

★ Multiplying by four

★ Multiplying by five

★ Multiplying by four or five

★ Multiplying by zero, one, two, three, four or five

★ Multiplying by six

★ Multiplying by seven

★ Multiplying by six or seven

★ Multiplying by eight

★ Multiplying by nine

★ Multiplying by eight or nine

★ Multiplying by six, seven, eight or nine

★ Multiplying by ten

★ Mixed multiplication facts

The following Common Core Standards are addressed:

**CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.C.4** Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.

**CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.NBT.A.3** Multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 (e.g., 9 × 80, 5 × 60) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.

On each page, there are 3 columns of problems. These sheets are designed to make it easy to differentiate. Upon the teacher’s directions, a child can fold the 3rd column over and “complete” the task by answering the questions in the first two columns.

I like to chorally read the problems and have kids check their own work. To help kids feel successful, I encourage each child to look for the box (column) in which he/she scored his/her personal best. This allows a lot of kids to find a section in which they got them all right!

On each page, one small piece of clip art is shown. The graphics appear in color, but print well in black and white. If a child finishes early, I give him/her the following options:

★ On the back, write a word problem related to one of the multiplication facts.

★ Take a look at the clip art and use it to write an encouraging statement on the back of the paper. For instance, a child might write, “Be a superhero – practice math facts!” (I do lots of modeling first. . . )
