Math facts made fun! Motivate your students to learn their math facts with Tournament of Math Facts – A basketball themed program for increasing math facts fluency

Want to get your students excited about learning their addition facts? Try this fun basketball themed incentive program with your class! I’ve been using this program with my students and have found it to be a very successful and motivating way for my students to learn/memorize their addition facts. It only takes about 5-10 minutes a day to incorporate in your math block and your students will be begging to take timed tests each day to pass to the next level and earn their All Star status in addition!

The program works with brain research and introduces only a few new facts each day. It engages both written and oral practice at school and at home. As students pass levels, they earn new colored “courts” on their way towards earning All Star Status.

This program is identical to my Kicking It Math Fact program, but was adjusted to have a basketball theme per a customer request. I loved it so much I decided to share it on TpT as well!

This resource includes:

*Directions/Tips for each page
*Color Photos and Examples
*26 Different Timed Tests with Answer Keys
*Parent Letter Explaining Program
*Flash Cards along with directions for use to maximize fact mastery
*Teacher and Student Tracking Sheets
*Wall Hanging for Tracking Class Progress

1.OA.C.6 Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 – 4 = 13 – 3 – 1 = 10 – 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 – 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13)

2.OA.B.2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.2 By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
