Math Facts Resources: Printable Addition and Subtraction Flashcards; Printable Math Facts Tests; Student Math Facts Data Sheets.

One of our school’s goals was to increase student’s math facts knowledge and fluency at each grade level. I made these resources to help my students obtain this goal.

Math Facts Flash Cards:

I send home these easy printable flash cards for my students and parents to help practice the facts we are working on in class. For example, in the beginning of the year we work on the facts 0-5 in both addition and subtraction so I just send those facts home in my students’ folders. Throughout the year, I send home the flashcards that correspond to what we are working on and what the students will be tested on.

Math Facts Test:

I would give students a math facts test each week. One week would be the addition test, the following we would be the subtraction test, continuing this pattern throughout the school year. The test would correspond to which facts we were working on. And both parents and students knew which test was given each week.

In our school students were to complete the test in a set amount of minutes with 90% accuracy to obtain goal set. In K-1st students were given 10 minutes to complete the test. K students were only given 20 problems, 1st were given 50 at the beginning of the year and then 100 by the end of the year. (the tests in this resource are 100 problems, we would just cut the sheet to give to students.) 2nd-3r grade students were given 8 minutes for 100 problems, 4th-6th grade students were given 5 minutes to complete test. All students, K-6th were required to have 90% accuracy.

Math Facts Data Sheets:

I would record student scores on the data sheets provided. I would be able to keep track on how my students are progress with this goal and it would allow me to give parents an idea of how their child is doing with this skill.

Toward the end of the year I would have some students who have completed their math facts tests and others that may still be working on their facts to 10. I was able to have students working at their skill level , student who completed the goal would move on and try to achieve the test in 8 or even 5 minutes of time, others would continue to plug along and achieve the goal one test at a time.
