Boom Cards & Everything Else as One

Need something motivational? Students will be enthused to complete their mission to zoom through addition and subtraction facts with the mission to travel to the solar system. This set includes two center activities for fluency practice, an intervention resource, timed tests, data tracking, and some very fun, unique rewards like a set of rocket glasses and a rocket crown. All with a fun space theme to help motivate students to blast their fact fluency!

Please view the preview. It shows more about this unit and gives a brief overview.

Update: I have now added some self-checking Boom Cards to these to equip those that have a need for their students to work on math fact fluency while doing distance learning. There are a total of 27 Boom Card decks, so students can focus on the 1 facts or the 3 facts comprehensively. Each set focused on an individual fact set has the same math fact four times with the answers in different locations, so students can work on fluency and mastery. For example, 10+10=20 may have the answer on the red button, the aqua button, the yellow button, and the purple button within the deck to enable them to practice that fact more than once. There is also addition doubles, an addition mix set with all the addition facts, and a subtraction mix set with all the subtraction facts. They are set to run randomly, so students never practice the facts in the same order twice. You can easily assign these in Seesaw, Google Classroom, or even through email. You will find these in the bonus file along with an additional math facts fluency file that includes the rest of the resources organized together.

This set is actually two in one for the printable version! There is a complete set covering 0-10 facts with sums and minuends up to 20 (example: 0+0=0 on up to 10+10=20). Then towards the back of the pdf, there is a complete set for 0-12 facts with sums and minuends up to 24 (example: 0+0=0 on up to 12+12=24)!!! Best of all, I am only counting one of the sets in the page count. There is actually 527 pages in this resource, but I only counted one set to figure out the price for this fluency practice resource! Note: The Boom Cards only include a 1-12 facts version.

Just to clarify, the first set in the resource has sums that go up to 20 (example: 10+10=20). The minuends go up to 20 (example: 20-10=10). The second set in the resource has sums that go up to 24 (example: 12+12=24). The minuends go up to 24 (example: 24-12=12).

☆Looking for one similar to this for multiplication & division? Find it by clicking here.

☆Want to add on some fun extra practice with games? My low prep spinner games can be used in the center with these. While this set is effective on its own, you may want to add these to add some fun games for students to zoom through their math facts. Find the Spinner Games by clicking here.

☆Looking for something that involves technology and is self-correcting? I have a digital math fluency resource that works in PowerPoint here that is sold separately. These are similar to the Boom Cards, but they are in PowerPoint format and set-up differently. They also have a cool animated rocket ship at the end that blasts off, but I was not able to add that in Boom with the randomize feature.

What Do I Need to Use the Boom Cards?

To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for modern Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (a form of play that gives instant feedback to students for self-grading Boom Cards). Read here for details:

How Many Devices Can Access the Boom Cards?

A single license is good for one teacher and her students, so you can use this with your whole class on as many devices as you like. You can even assign these for homework too!

How Will I Assign the Boom Card Files?

You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (play provides instant feedback for self-grading Boom Cards). Fast Play is always a free way for students to engage with Boom Cards decks. For additional assignment options, you will need a premium account. If you are new to Boom Learning, you will be offered a free trial of our premium account. I will provide links to access Boom Learning in the resource. In other words, you can use these with a free account, but you get additional features with the premium account. Premium accounts are very low cost for the year too.

Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
    Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
