This is a fun game that helps students reinforce the math facts. It is a strategy game that blends the popular BUMP game with the widely known tic-tac-toe game. Having two game boards on one page also adds a strategy element to the game (but playing with only one board might be suitable for younger students).
Essentially, the students draw two digit cards and create a math fact, stating the answer correctly. If they say the correct answer, they get to put a counter/marker on that number. When they get three in a row (tic-tac-toe), they win. However...with the BUMP rules added in...students can bump opponents off the board, or freeze their own counters (if they get two counters on the same spot). Also...with two boards, students will sometimes get to choose which board they want to use (sometimes using an offensive move, or a defensive move).
It does help if students have played bump before, because then they just add that knowledge to a tic-tac-toe platform.
If you would like the Microsoft Word version, let me know. You can change the digits so that it works as a subtraction, addition, or division facts game.
