This is a fun way to work on students' basic math skills. Our Fantasy Football unit is made to be fun for students with any level of knowledge about football. It is what is called an auction type league. Kids can all pick the same player if he is popular and even pick all the players on the hometown favorite team. Three of the last four years I have done this in my class, the teams of girls who have zero knowledge of football have won, and it is due to the family working together on the team. The by product has been a family tradition and spending quality time together. In my low income school, several of the girls have spent time with their dads or uncles talking football and having some time together on Sundays. You can't put a price on that! Since you can change your players every week, you can start the season on any week without being behind. Week 3 is as fun as week 1. Students work on multiplying, adding, subtracting, reading charts and tracking data. We know you and your students will enjoy this as much as ours have!
