Poster you can use with your students to talk about to efficiently and accurately solve fast fact problems.
Criteria broken down:
1. Grab the bigger number in the problem and count on/ count back
2. Encourage students to skip around and do the problems they KNOW first and fast.
3. On problems that are harder for them use a known and useful strategy: using fingers, using the number line, etc.
I use the elephant poster to model how I grab the bigger number. We do a few problems together where I take the numbers from the worksheet and I put them into the elephants to model how I grab the bigger number.
