Context: These flashcards are meant to be used by individual students during a math lesson to help them learn how to add fluently within 5.
How to use: Simply print double-sided onto cardstock, one sheet per student. The equations are on one side, and the answers are on the other. There is a place for students to write their name onto each flashcard. After they write their name, they should cut the flashcards apart and store them in an envelope for repeated use. Students should hold the cards in their hands and look at the first equation, quickly say or use fingers to find the answer, then check the back to see if they are correct or incorrect. If they are correct they celebrate and set the card to the side. If they are incorrect they say, "Wah-wah-wah!" and place that card to the back of the pile for another chance to get it right. This continues on as long as time allows.
Students can work individually, with a partner, or in a challenge format where they race to see who can say their facts correctly the fastest.
