Example of challenging question:
The first “jack-o-lanterns” were not carved out of
pumpkins but out of turnips in Ireland! In 2011, a pumpkin
grown in Canada weighed 1,818 pounds. If there are 16
ounces in a pound, about how many ounces did the
pumpkin weigh? What is the place value for each digit
in your answer?
Example of less challenging question:
Vampire Bats live in Central and South America and feed on the blood of cattle, horses, and birds. If a bat ate for a total of 120 minutes, how many hours did it feed?
