Do you need engaging math material for your classroom? This is the resource you NEED. My students love just practicing basic math skills and they also LOVE directed drawings, so why not combine them together? Students will answer each problem (I make mine show their work to receive credit) and they will choose the answer choice that matches theirs. They will then follow the directions given for that answer choice to draw and color their picture. The front questions are used to draw the picture and the back questions are used to color. Students should all receive a template to start their drawing, which I have provided in the file. You can also just model the template on the board and have them just draw it on their own. This just gives them a good starting point and gives them all a fair chance to at least begin their picture correctly. They LOVE this activity and beg me to give them new ones all the time!

Here is how I use this activity in my classroom:
-Early Finisher Work
-Use it as independent work after I finish teaching the aligned standard or TEK. Can be taken as a grade
-STATIONS- Perfect to use this as a station to keep students engaged while I am working with a small group.
-Substitute Lesson Plans- Minimizes behavior problems while you are gone and there is a sub! They will know what to do after you start doing these periodically, and this activity will not cause your sub or students any confusion!

ALIGNED STANDARD & TEK:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NBT.B.5

TEK 4.4 (C) Represent the product of 2 two-digit numbers using arrays, area models, orequations, including perfect squares through 15 by 15.

TEK 4.4 (D) Use Strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiplyup to a 4 digit number by a 1 digit number and to multiply a 2 digit number by a 2 digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties.
