These lessons were designed and tested with students in grades five and six and allows for flexibility to modify or adapt for your students. Please note that this product is not intended to be used in place of your district's required resources, but to supplement your materials.

Please review the PREVIEWS to see what comes with each unit. Since we are Canadian, the numbers included in this product have SI notation, meaning there are no commas included in the numbers-only spaces. So, 38 492 is used instead of 38,492. We also use Canadian spellings.

***I wish I had found this at the beginning of the year!! A great way to cover all of the math outcomes for my grade 6 students. This will really relieve a lot of stress for me as it takes care of the planning and organizing of how I am going to cover each outcome. I love the flexibility with how you can teach each topic but the consistency of the Lesson and Proof pages, so students can always look back and use prior knowledge. Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100. For example, rewrite 0.62 as 62/100; describe a length as 0.62 meters; locate 0.62 on a number line diagram.
Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., ๐น-axis and ๐น-coordinate, ๐บ-axis and ๐บ-coordinate).
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
