Kakuro is a great way to memorize those small additions by composing and decomposing numbers. This is especially important for the little ones to practice to lay a ground for the two-digit addition. The problem is that most kakuros are too hard to solve for kids younger than 4. grade. So I made my own very simple kakuro, and figured out how to introduce them in my classroom.
The material contains:
A step-by-step guide to introducing the kakuro rules to small children
5 tiny kakuros
5 kakuros with only two numbers to add
5 kakuros with up to three numbers to add
Hereafter they’ll be able to solve the easiest kakuros, that you can find for free on the internet.
