Are you trying to integrate subjects with Common Core?
This is the perfect way to integrate math, reading and writing (and many times-social studies)!
One of my guided math groups is called "math literacy". I put a children's book, math literacy card and cute stationary in a bag. Students read the book (individually), that's based on a math skill, and respond to the prompt. This set is geared toward money and number sense standards. Included are 12 cards. I have also included a list of books you will need and their guided reading levels (ranging from K to P). I get many of my books from the public library or our school's media center.
The math literacy cards are based on the following books:
The History of Money
Follow the Money
Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday
If You Made a Million
Lots and Lots of Coins
A Collection for Kate
The History of Counting
Two of Everything
G is for Googol
You will need to check out the books, print the cards on card stock and laminate for durability, put them in a bag and you're ready to go!
I hope you enjoy them as much as my kiddos and I have!
Check out my other Math Literacy Cards!
Thanks for stopping by!
