Are you trying to integrate subjects with Common Core?
This is the perfect way to integrate math, reading and writing (and many times-social studies)!
One of my guided math groups is called "math literacy". I put a children's book, math literacy card and cute stationary in a bag. Students read the book (individually), that's based on a math standard, and respond to the prompt. This set is geared toward fraction standards. Included are 12 cards. I have also included a list of books you will need and their guided reading levels (ranging from J to N). I get many of my books from the public library or our school's media center.
The math literacy cards are based on the following books:
My Half Day
Give Me Half
Jump, Kangaroo, Jump
Working on Fractions
The Hershey’s Fraction Book
Full House: An Invitation to Fractions
The Lion’s Share
You will need to check out the books, print the cards on card stock and laminate for durability, put them in a bag and you're ready to go!
