Are you trying to integrate subjects with Common Core?
This is the perfect way to integrate math, reading and writing (and many times-social studies)!
One of my guided math groups is called "math literacy". I put a children's book, math literacy card and cute stationary in a bag. Students read the book (individually), that's based on a math standard, and respond to the prompt. This set is geared toward addition and subtraction standards. Included are 12 cards. I have also included a list of books you will need and their guided reading levels (ranging from H to N). I get many of my books from the public library or our school's media center.
The math literacy cards are based on the following books:
Animals on Board
12 Ways to Get 11
Anno's Magic Seeds
Monster Musical Chairs
The Action of Subtraction
You will need to check out the books, print the cards on card stock and laminate for durability, put them in a bag and you're ready to go!
