Are you trying to integrate subjects with Common Core?
This is the perfect way to integrate math, reading and writing (and many times-social studies)!
One of my guided math groups is called "math literacy". I put a children's book, math literacy card and cute stationary in a bag. Students read the book (individually), that's based on a math standard, and respond to the prompt. This set is geared toward money and economics standards. Included are 12 cards. I have also included a list of books you will need and their guided reading levels (ranging from H to Q). I get many of my books from the public library or our school's media center.
The math literacy cards are based on the following books:
Pigs Will Be Pigs: Fun with Math and Money
Pigs Go to the Market: Fun with Math and Shopping
The Penny Pot
Arthur’s Funny Money
The Go-Around Dollar
The Hundred Penny Box
Once Upon a Dime
The Story of Money
A New Coat for Anna
You will need to check out the books, print the cards on card stock and laminate for durability, put them in a bag and you're ready to go!
Thanks for stopping by! Check out my other Math Literacy sets. I have them for almost all math standards. They make a great math center and my kids have always enjoyed them.
