Description

Math Centers just got a lot more engaging! These fun logic problem puzzles will challenge your students and get them thinking about multiplication and division in a whole new way. These are ideal as early finisher tasks, morning tubs, or partner math centers. They also make a fantastic addition to your problem-solving routine.

For each of the 20 logic puzzles, your students will find the value of each symbol and record it on the accompanying recording sheet.

👉 Printable and Digital Versions included - This resource is included in both PDF version for printing as well as in Google Slides™️ version for projecting in your classroom. This makes it easy for you to use in small groups, as an independent math center, or as a whole-class discussion.

Although these puzzles work with mostly basic multiplication and division facts (with a few bigger facts thrown in), don't be fooled! If your students are not used to working with numbers in this way, these will be surprisingly challenging. These are best suited to Grades 4-6, but even some higher-grade students may be sufficiently challenged with this set.

⭐️ There are many ways to use these Logic Problems. Try them as:

  • early finisher tasks
  • morning math tubs
  • an "around the room" gallery walk - post the cards around the room and have students circulate, answering them as they go
  • math stations (let students work in partners, and listen to the amazing math conversation they will have as they use critical thinking and reasoning skills!)
  • a whole-class warm-up or math talk

If you are like most teachers and teach a class with a wide variety of ability levels, I highly recommend you provide differentiation for your students. You want to provide just enough challenge for each student but not SO MUCH challenge that this activity becomes frustrating.

To help you make differentiation simple, I've bundled all 8 sets of these Logic Puzzles. Assign specific sets to students, or lay them all out and have students choose the set that provides the perfect amount of challenge for their brain! (This can be a great way to empower your students and teach responsibility for their own learning.)

I found the problems to be a bit young for grades 4-6. May be better suited for grade 3. My grade fives blew through them.
