Teaching money is so hard!!! For many of our littles, the concepts are so abstract still. Especially in an age where most people use credit cards to pay. Gone are the days where everyone paid with cash and we constantly had money to count.
I've created a packet full of "fun" for practicing money counting skills even more. I know in my teaching career, I could never have enough money practice-especially ones that get kids thinking. This pack is designed to enhance your teaching.
Some of the things in this pack:
Coin Recognition: find the coin (head or tail) and color
There are many versions for each of the following-growing in difficulty:
Counting on: start at a number and count on a specific number of dimes or nickels or pennies. (2 versions-spin and count and just counting on)
Counting a mixed collection of coins (dimes/pennies; nickels/pennies; dimes/nickels/pennies and all of the above plus quarters)
Going shopping: counting the coins in their wallet-deciding what they can get AND how much change they get back! (some have a bonus that kids need to decide just how much more money they need to get the item that they didn't have enough for)
Story Problems! Including 2 step, counting money and making change (or deciding how much more they need)
2 Memory games to print and play
Flip books: showing different ways to make money; showing how to make a dollar
Money Missions: Missions for each task-counting dimes/pennies; nickels/pennies; D/N/P and all of the above plus quarters... and a Going Shopping page. If they correctly pass the quizzes, there are certificates you can print for the students!
