My district began using Math Expressions this fall. As a 2nd grade teacher, I needed to create some materials to help the students understand the concept of Math Mountains and give them extra practice (since they did not have it in kindergarten and 1st grade).
This download includes:
* colored "poster" demonstrating a Math Mountain (with a mountain graphic and the tiny tumblers on the sides)
* black and white copy of the same poster to be reproduced (i.e. for students' notebooks)
* flash cards showing all mountains with sums 1-19
* 3 practice pages
NOTE: If you're unfamiliar with Math Mountains, it is another way of showing family. The sum is at the top, and the addends (or partners) are at the base of the mountain.
