After intermediate students read the scenario in "Math Mystery: The Missing Domino," they use clues in the story to mathematically determine how the main character solved the mystery of the missing domino. Two possible solutions are provided. The solutions include multiplication of a two-digit number times a one-digit number with regrouping, as well as knowledge of even and odd numbers. Students write their responses in a manner similar to that of a Constructed Response Assessment (CRA).
