WHAT IS MATH PARK?
It is ENGAGING! Students must be engaged before they are ready to learn. Our show uses comedy, music, special visual effects and live-action hosts to make math concepts clear. It can actually be entertaining! Many parents have stated that their children like Math Park because “it has real people.”
It is a series of 10-12 minute math video programs.
It won two Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards as Best Instructional Television Series.
It is produced and written by a small group of elementary math teachers and instructional coaches under the direction of Robert Sharp, a teacher, instructional coach, and producer of instructional television programs.
It is aimed at grades 2-4, but can also be used to review skills for grade 5.
It provides continuous review while the curriculum evolves so that students don’t forget what they learned earlier.
It helps meet the needs of English learners in that encourages math talk, plus the visual aspect of the program helps clarify math concepts.
It is HIGHLY INTERACTIVE! There are numerous “pause points” within each program which prompt full class and small group discussion.
