This partner activity can be used during your regular Math block time or during small Math groups.
If your students are more proficient in this standard, it works well as a partner activity. If your students need a lot of reinforcement or more direct instruction, use the partner cards in whole group instruction. Whether students complete them as a partner activity or with you during direct instruction, I love having students glue the comparison cards in their interactive math notebook to have as a reference. And especially since my Math book doesn't provide enough practice of this standard, these partner cards give my students the repetition they need!
Cuisenaire rods are optional. I think that they're great to introduce the concept of a comparison because it's a concrete representation, but for years I didn't have the rods and I just drew boxes to model the comparison.
