There are 2 ways to use this activity:
1. Put a question on each student’s desk; each student gets his own number; the students walk around the desks and answer the questions according to his number.
2. Put a question AND a number on each student’s desk; the students walk around and answer the question according to the number on the desk. (If you do it this way, cross out the “my number” line.)
**When the students are finished, collect the recording sheets. This is a quick and easy assessment.
I call this activity “musical desks” in my classroom. I usually set the timer or play classical music for 30 seconds to 1 minute depending on the difficulty of the problems. My students really enjoy this learning activity because they’re up and out of their seats while doing normal practice problems. ? I did this activity during a formal observation, and my principal LOVED it!!
