Use this product to provide your students with opportunities to build and refine their mathematical problem-solving skills. Cognitively Guided Instruction allows students to think for themselves by giving them the freedom to solve flexibly and in multiple ways. Students soon learn there is more than one way to arrive at an answer. However, if you are not CGI trained, these story problems can still be used by your students.
There is a total of twenty-two problems organized in pairs. The story problems in each pair are related and their topics are kid-friendly. Each problem has its own page so there is plenty of room for students to write, draw, and calculate to solve. Numbers have been left out in order for you to differentiate to meet the needs of your students.
In addition to the story problems, you will find:
• Student objectives
• Common Core connections
• Suggestions for how to use the product
• Category Key for the CGI problems in this product
