Using Problems of the Week (POW) is a great way to promote problem solving and critical thinking in the classroom. These 28 POW are based off of the first standard of mathematical practice from the Common Core State Standards which challenges students to “Make sense of problems and to persevere in solving
them.” These can be used as a station, math center, sent home at the beginning of the week, or for group work.

Included in this Pack:
28 varied problems that are meant to be displayed on a math Wall, to be given to groups or displayed under a projector. **Each of these POWs were created to challenge the students across the various common core Math strands
(Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Number & Operations Base Ten/Fractions, Measurement & Data and Geometry)
- 28 student Think Sheets that they submit their answers on. The think sheet requires them to not only give the answer, but also to show work and defend their answer in writing. This way of showing their process is aligned with the Smarter Balance test example.

- A POW Bunting Sign and Math Strategy Posters to cute-sify your bulletin board, showcasing student’s work or to make a permanent POW board
