This assignment addresses the very serious problem of not being able to reach the bottom of the Pringles can.
Students will use their skills of finding surface area to design a Pringles can and calculate its cost. This is very student centered and student led -- they will design a bigger can and a "scoop" to get those Pringles out of the can.
Then, students will complete their assignment with a writing prompt to summarize what they did and what option is the best.
