This is a 21 slide Power Point presentation on math properties created by Mark Robuck. The properties covered are commutative of addition and multiplication, associative of addition and multiplication, identity of addition and multiplication, zero, and distributive. I added the distributive at the very end for my older students. In my 5th and 6th grade classes we do not cover the distributive property until later in the year if at all. However, my 7th and 8th grade students need to cover this with the rest of the properties. If you will not cover the distributive property you can stop the presentation at the first summary page. If you wish to continue go through to the end.
I like to explain what the root words of these property names mean to help the students associate meanings with the properties. Several of my slides are used in this way, others introduce the properties, and some give examples. This is great as a review for older students or if used in pieces can introduce the properties to younger students.
