The card game is a great way to review the Identity, Commutative, Associative, and Distributive Properties.
1. Pass out the cards. If there are extra cards, give some of your students an extra card.
2. The teacher will start off by reading the “START” card. The teacher will say, “I have 3+2=2+3, the Commutative Property of addition. Who Has…? 3×2=2×3.” The student with the 3×2=2×3 card, will raise their hand and read aloud their card. Remind students to “Name the property.” The game will be played until all of the cards have been read aloud and a student reads the “Finish” card.
Have fun reviewing the properties!
