Motivate young students to learn addition facts (to 10) by providing them with a variety of ways to practice them.
This file contains printable 3-piece puzzles that feature an addition equation in the left side piece, its sum in the middle piece, and a picture of a corresponding number of objects in the right side piece. The left side piece is interchangeable to include the variety of addition equations that have the same sum. For instance, the left side piece that has 2+2 is the same shape as the left side pieces that have 3+1, 1+3, 4+0, and 0+4.
This file also contains blank template pieces to make two new unique puzzles.
*Tip: If you laminate the blank puzzle pieces before you cut them out, they can be used as mini dry-erase boards. This allows you and your students to write and piece together new equations. ("If this right side piece has this many dots on it, what could the equation be? What would the number look like?" or, "If this equation is 8+7, how many dots could you make on the right side piece?")
Don't forget: If you want to adjust the size of the playing cards, select printer options such as scale and "fit to page." I always recommend that you print my reusable activities in color ink on card stock and laminate them before you cut them out! The images really "pop" and the product is much more durable that way.
P.S. I value constructive feedback and new followers!
