Weekly math quizzes are a staple in my classroom. This assessment is meant to be a quick 10 - 15 minute assignment that assesses what was taught that week. My students complete these assignments on a weekly basis at the end of our math block, typically on Fridays. I also use this resource to review materials taught earlier in the school year. The questions are primarily level 1 and level 2 DOK questions. Money is not a requirement for first grade in common core. However, in my county, we are required to teach it, but not assess it. I use this quiz as a tool to determine what my students have already learned about money before I begin this unit. I give this same quiz at the end of the unit to assess the students on what they have learned. Although it is not graded, I've found this to be a valuable tool in that my students know they are still required to learn how to count a collection of coins, identifying coins, and exchanging equivalent amounts.
