These math task cards are designed to be used as a relay or as progressive task cards. The included tip sheets give ideas of their use in an individual game format or in groups in the style of a Thinking Classroom. The cards focus on combining like terms. There are no exponents in this set. The questions get more challenging as the problem numbers increase, allowing all students to experience success and pushing students who need a greater challenge to solve some tough problems!

Start your entire class with Problem 1 or Problem Set 1 and have a counter or set of desks where there are stacks of the other problems or sets. Students record work and answers on the answer sheet and only progress to the next problem once they have solved the previous one correctly. They will turn in completed problems to pick up the next one. Prizes for the winners or for hard workers are optional.
