I love teaching Math and I love teaching Math using real-life, rich tasks and projects. However, it didn't take me very long to realize that the traditional way of assessing Math was not very effective in assessing how students performed during these tasks. Lots of us (Math teachers that is!) are looking for alternative ways to assess Mathematical thinking and processes – I certainly was. Enter the Rich Task Rubric.
This rubric was developed from the 7 mathematical processes found in the Ontario curriculum, but really they are universally important for good mathematical thinking in specific and logical thinking in general.
