Need a way to organize your math block?
Math Rotations Work!
Math Rotations or Math Workshop is a model of instruction where students are rotating between several "stations" throughout the math block. These stations are work stations that include working on a specific skill, working on classwork, meeting with the teacher for small group math instruction and having time to work with math with a hands-on approach.
How do Math Rotations work?
I use the acronym MATH for organizing how students "rotate" from one activity to the next:
A-At Your Seat
What if those terms don't work for me?
I've included an editable Powerpoint file where you can change the terms to fit your needs. Also, if you don't want the clipart, there are solid variations of each of the pieces. You can also change the color of those pieces to match your classroom before editing the terms (or leaving them the same).
**Please note: Due to clipart copyright, the images are flattened on the pages that include clipart. The clipart can not be changed. Therefore, the blank pages are included so that you can add your own graphics if you want different images.**
I wish you the best of luck with implementing Math Workshop/ Math Rotations in your classroom. You won’t need the luck, though. Once you figure out the system and how to structure your time, you will never go back to teaching math in whole group again!
