This project is assigned each year as an "at-home" assignment. It takes the place of a quarterly book report project. The students go on a "Math Scavenger Hunt" and find different items related to math topics. For example, they may need to find and interpret a famous baseball player's stats, find a flag that is divided into equal parts, etc. After collecting all of the scavenger hunt items, the students choose a creative way to display their findings (book, powerpoint, poster, etc.). This project comes complete with a rubric. It is a favorite of students and parents each year!
