This bundle contains strategies to help students comprehend content area texts and spelling. Some of the reading strategies are intentionally similar in order to help students master a few, research-based, strategies that work interchangeably in disciplines.
Research indicates if you make the kind of thinking you want students to do visible in the classroom it promotes higher critical thinking and problem solving for all students.
These are great scaffolding tools for students to refer to until they are automatic. As always, the strategies I suggest are the ones that benefit students long-term so that you are setting them up for success beyond the time that they are in your class.
Of note, before strategies are CRITICAL because they help students comprehend the text better when they read it by igniting prior knowledge and building background knowledge about a topic, text format and author's purpose.
