Included are two activities for practice with algebraic expressions.
The first activity is a "Math Squares" game where squares are cut out of a puzzle and students must evaluate the expressions to put the puzzle back together.
My 8th grade class found this puzzle challenging. It took students more than a half hour to put it back together. There is another version of the puzzle attached with pictures to help show students the direction of the puzzle pieces.
The second activity includes 5 multiple-choice questions to help prepare students for a quiz on translating algebraic expressions. The questions will take only 10 minutes for students to complete.
I give the test review questions for students who are done early with other translating expressions activities.
