This is an example of how math stations could be used in a primary classroom. I use this in a 3rd grade classroom. All ideas can be changed to fit with your own math program. The students like doing math stations, but needed accountability to ensure that they were doing everything they were supposed to be doing. This cover sheet helps them think about their understanding by including their target for the day and a thumbs self-assessment to complete at the end of the lesson each day. Students get instruction in small groups with me based on their performance on the pretest for that particular unit. Groups are flexible and students move in and out. This download includes the math stations cover sheet (editable), a page that I use to go with a Lakeshore bulletin board set called Math in Minutes, and a description of my math stations.
