Integrating literature of any kind into your math lesson is always a great change of pace for your students. At first they might think it is strange to be reading in math, but by the end they always enjoy it!
Within this resource you will find an activity that has been created to be used with the book, “If You Hopped Like a Frog” by David Schwartz. I think the theme of this particular book is best used as a supplementary activity to your unit on ratios and proportions. However, younger students could also use this book to practice multiplication.
During this activity, your students will have the opportunity to determine just how high they could jump if they were a frog, how much food they would eat if they were a shrew, etc.
Your students will love this activity!
