Product Description
This is a set of Valentine's Day themed subitizing cards for teaching the numbers 1-10. They were designed to teach Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten Students number sense for numbers 1-10. Subitizing is the ability to ‘see’ a small amount of objects and know how many there are without counting. By using the cards, your students will learn skills such as conservation, compensation, unitizing, counting on, composing and decomposing numbers, as well as understanding of arithmetic and place value.

These cards work best when run on cardstock and laminated for durability.

Here are a few suggestions as to how you can use the cards with your students:

 Use cards to teach numbers and what those numbers represent. Recognition of the number of objects should become automatic.
 Show several cards, all but one of which have the same number. Ask children which card does not belong.
 Play concentration games with cards that have different arrangements for each number.
 Give each child cards with zero through ten dots in different arrangements. Have students spread the cards in front of them. Then announce a number. Students find the matching card as fast as possible and hold it up. Have them use different sets of cards, with different arrangements, on different days. Later, hold up a written numeral as their cue.
 Show several cards, all but one of which have the same number. Ask children which card does not belong.
