I've not seen this one before so you know I had to make it. Math Tasks prove that a student possesses an absolute mastery of any given math skill, especially those covered by Common Core (or similar) standards.
Common core Math is no mystery. Multiple pathways of teaching, and multiple ways of demonstrating understanding. The best way to do that is to provide a non-verbal labeled representation of the process, a written (preferably sequential) explanation of the process (addresses literacy standards), a number sentence/sentences with an answer with the appropriate units indicated. This can be shown in 3-4 steps.
It is my experience that if a student can't demonstrate all of these, mastery has not been attained.
In this file I have included 2 (two) posters for a 3-step and 4-step process, I have also included 3 blank worksheets for your students to record their answers on.
This is a high-resolution vector-based illustration created in graphic design software. The file looks deceptively simple but packs a lot of information without overwhelming your students. I try to do as much research as possible when creating these so I am pretty confident in the accuracy of the information.
I know middle/junior high school teachers don't normally use anchor charts when teaching math, but this can certainly be utilized as a reference instrument or handout.
Document dimensions 24"x31" (scaled up from a letter-size format)

Not a lot of wall space? Want to save paper? Display this on your interactive whiteboard during the lesson. Print off letter size for INBs or put in sleeve protectors for a binder reference.
