In order to support the CCSS Mathematical practices and our student's ability to write and illustrate their mathematical thinking, we need to provide them with available tools to do so. I have created this product with the intention of fostering mathematical literacy. These math tools and math mats support the 8 mathematical practices so that our students can organize, think and act like mathematicians!
This product includes COLOR AND BLANK LINE versions of these math tools and mats:
Open Number Lines
Doubles Tens Frames
Place Value Chart (hundreds, tens and ones)
Place Value Chart (thousands, hundreds, tens and ones)
Part, Part, Whole Boxes (4 per page)
Part, Part, Whole Boxes (1 per page)
Triangle Fact Family
Suggestions for use:
Print color or black line version on cardstock and laminate. Print one class set or multiple copies. Place in sleeve protectors or pocket protectors. Introduce each tool as you teach into the concepts of how and when to use these math tools and mats. Store in a location that is accessible to students. Encourage students to get and use tools and mats when needed. Soon your students will be able to draw these tools to explain their mathematical thinking.
