I found myself bogged down with student notes about their math skills. I had stacks of papers to differentiate my students into groups for reteaching and enrichment. When report card time comes around, I was shuffling through all these notes to remind myself of my students' skill mastery....
Then I create this super helpful document! This document has saved me so much time and frustration! Along the top of the chart I included my learning standards and along the side I included my students' names. I made a quick assessment scale listed along the bottom. It can be used for so many purposes!
- Making small groups for reteaching
As I teach each skill, I will mark each student according to the scale as I meet with them or observe them. As I look down at the scale the next day, I immediately can see the children I need to meet with for reteaching if I scored them as struggling or needing assistance.
- Planning out future lessons:
If I score the entire class as consistently knowing the skill, no need to spend another day reviewing it. If my whole class is needing assistance, I will spend additional time on it.
- Finding students to give enrichment activities to:
If I see some students that are consistently understanding the skill I can provide them with enrichment or extension activities.
-Tracking student progress:
I usually mark on this chart every math class. If I am working on the same skill for multiple days, I make additional marks in each box. Hopefully with each day their mark with improve as they become more confident with the skills.
This product is also available in a 4th grade Math Tracking Sheet Bundle.
