Contents: 2 Game Boards, Instructions
Materials needed: 2 File Folders, access to a Laminator, Wet-Erase Markers, and one paper clip
Print out Math Battleship Activity. Glue each Battleship Game Board into a different File Folder. Then glue a Target Observation Sheet to the other side of the folder. Laminate completed File Folders. Put in central location for students to access during Center Time, Free Time, or something to do when their tasks are complete.
This game is intended for 2 players. Each player will set up their Battleship Boards with the Target Observation Sheet sides of the folder paper clipped together. Each player will use a wet-erase marker and write down 5 math vocabulary terms on the Battleship Game Board. These terms must be relevant to instruction that has taken place in the classroom. Students may choose which words they would like to use. Place one letter in each box when setting up the vocabulary words. Then, in traditional Battleship fashion, each player will take turns calling out coordinates related to positions of vocabulary letters on the board. The opponent will let the player know if they have “hit” or “miss” a letter, and the player will make a note of it on his or her Target Observation Sheet, using the wet erase marker.
