Suggestions for use:
*I’ve designed these vocabulary strips to fit into a standard-size pocket chart. You will need to cut around the borders of each card and place them into the slots of the pocket chart. TIP: A SMALL to MEDIUM-SIZED pocket chart (about 21 inches L x 14.5 inches W) works best. When I’m teaching a particular math lesson, I like to showcase a certain set of words and phrases by placing them in a pocket chart and placing the pocket chart in a specific place so that the words and phrases are readily accessible for my 2nd grade kiddos to see and use.
*Feel free to make these vocabulary strips your own! :) Copy them on heavy-duty paper and laminate to ensure durability. Bright, cheerful colors work best and they'll give the cards a look that “pops!” NOTE: These vocabulary strips have been created to print with colored borders. If colored ink is not an option, then the strips will print just fine in grayscale.
*These vocabulary strips can be used in other ways as well.
For example, you may want to:
--Post one strip on the whiteboard and use it as a “math word/phrase of the day”
--Have the students use them as flash cards during math centers or small group time
--Review with ELD/ESL/EFL students
--Pre-teach with your lower-level students during RTI or math workshop
--Use as exit tickets by asking students to (1) read the word/phrase; (2) state/give the definition of the word/phrase OR (3) use the word/phrase in a sentence
--Evenings With Drake
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
