Get your students discussing math, using math vocabulary, thinking creatively and problem solving as soon as they arrive for math class! Daily Math Warm-Ups!
This set of 30 Math Warm-Up slides (Alike or Different) is a great way to get everyone actively participating in math class right away!
Each slide has a box with 4 different items (shapes, equations, measurements...). The students job is to determine which 3 boxes are similar and which one is different- and be able to explain why. The best thing is there can be many different answers to each problem, which promotes great math discussions and analysis of different math topics.
Some topics included in this set of Math Warm Up slides are:
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
order of operations
decimals, fractions, percents
2D and 3D shapes
area, perimeter, volume
lines, rays, angles
I encourage students to solve and discuss the Math Warm Up problems with classmates and we share our answers and mathematical thinking after a few minutes.
There IS NOT an answer key for these slides, there is no one correct answer, so I open it up for discussion and am amazed with what the students come up with!
This also benefits you as a teacher because it gives you a couple minutes at the beginning of class to greet students, check homework answer student questions and circulate to listen in on the great math discussions going on!
These could also be printed out and used as a center activity or as task cards.
