I made these problems to help deal with the crazy end of my school day, some kids get the bus right away, some are with me for another 20 minutes. I needed an activity that was differentiated, engaging and easy for students to do independently, so I came up with these activities.
They are really just weird problems that the kids get to draw to solve. I am trying them out!
I think they would also work great for sub-plans. The last time I wrote problems like this for my students I was blown away by their open ended responses.
UPDATE: These didn't work so well at the end of the day because students were rushed, but they worked awesome as morning work. Students were much more into them. The problems also fooled about half of my 4th graders. They discovered the correct answers as different students showed their work on our classroom projector.
