This is a handy exercise I use with my students to have some fun. It may not look like fun at first glance, but my kids get a kick out of it.
It can be used to explain what a tangent is, and also how circles can have common tangents. I sometimes use it as a filler, for those "last week before the holiday" lessons :)
Basically, the students must examine each diagram and decide how many common tangents all circles in that diagram has.
There are 30 diagrams and one example is done for the students (1C). The screenshots and preview will give a better idea of how the worksheet is laid out.
The first two pictures show the layout of the worksheet, and pictures of an example and the solution are also shown.
